Granny Grutz’s Sour Cream Cornbread

This was my great grandmother’s (Lucy Grutzmacher) cornbread recipe that has been passed down through the family.

Granny Grutz’s Sour Cream Cornbread

3/4 c cornmeal
1/4 c sugar
1 c flour
1/2 t baking soda
2 t baking powder
1 c sour cream
3/4 t salt
1 egg
1/4 c milk
2 T butter, melted

Preheat oven to 425 degrees.  In bowl, beat egg.  Add wet ingredients to blend.  In separate bowl, mix dry ingredients.  Add dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and blend just to moisten.  Transfer to a greased 8″ pan.  Bake for 20 minutes.
